In the United Arab Emirates, if a citizen fails to pay money owed to another citizen, the police may get involved to send a letter to the payer’s bank to request payment. Mashreq Bank receives these police letters via email in Arabic, often with handwritten documents attached. The emails need to be translated to English since bank systems only support English.
Watch the video to learn how Mashreq has used a combination of Microsoft Azure, OCR and a Blue Prism digital workforce to quickly and efficiently receive letters in Arabic, read, translate and create documentation in English that can be further evaluated by bank employees. Response time to these requests has been reduced from 96 hours to just two.
